British Airways has rolled out a voluntary ‘Student Travel Assistance’ service to support Indian students travelling from five major Indian airports to London Heathrow, beginning this summer.
As per a release by the airline, “British Airways is the only airline to offer this complimentary personalised service for students until end of October 2025.”
The initiative is likely to benefit the Indian students pursuing higher education in universities and other tertiary institutions in the United Kingdom.
The service, which is available for all students travelling to London via the airline, started on August 29, 2025, and will continue till October 31, 2025 at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai airports.
Students can identify themselves at the British Airways check-in counter if they wish to receive this assistance. Dedicated signages will guide students to the helpdesk.
The media release highlighted that international student mobility from India has witnessed consistent growth over the past decade, with UK being a top destination for students, given its “strong academic and cultural ties”.
The service entails a dedicated check-in desk, wayfinding details through the airport, and transfer guidance when the students arrive at Terminal 5 of the Heathrow Airport.

The airline’s Regional General Manager, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific Airport, Helen O’Connor, said: “We are proud to fly thousands of students around the world, ready for them to embark on their next adventure, and for some students, this is the first time they are travelling overseas.”
“Our teams across both sides of the globe have worked incredibly hard to introduce our first-ever ‘Student Travel Assistance’ service, offering dedicated support to make every journey for students as seamless and reassuring as possible. We hope this makes them feel at ease from the moment they arrive to when they land in their destination, and we look forward to welcoming them on board,” O’Connor stated, as per the media release.
In March this year, the airline also sought to improve accessibility for Indian travellers to London, by launching its ‘Meet and Assist’ service. This service entailed “in-person guidance for those with assistance requirements, helping customers to check-in, navigate the airport, find their seat and help with any questions,” according to another media release.
British Airways operates 56 flights per week from these five Indian airports, the release stated.
