Do you know how Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani fell in love and got married? On Raj Shamani’s podcast The Figuring Out Co, the Mere Husband Ki Biwi actor detailed her fun proposal story before getting hitched to the Youngistaan actor.
“Zabardasti karwaya tha maine (I had forced him to do it). I said, I am not walking down the aisle. Humne combined bachelor’s ki thi, with both of our friend groups together. That is where he proposed to me,” she told Shamani.
Bhagnani’s best friend Bhumi was the person to plan the whole thing. “Bhumi asked me to go for a morning breakfast, and invited everyone over, saying that the boys’ side wants to host the girls’ side. And we were all exasperated, saying who would want to go for a breakfast in Samui at 10 am. She insisted, and I didn’t doubt her. She even asked me to wear a nice dress in the guise of clicking pictures at the beach. And then, over there was a whole decoration with ‘Marry Me’ written on it. He had also written a song to propose.”
How Rakul-Jackky fell in love
During a previous conversation with The Curly Tales, the Youngistaan actor spilled the beans on their love story. Sharing that they had been orbiting each other for almost five years, Jackky revealed that they first became best friends because they shared the same core values. Family, fitness, health, and giving each other space were very important to them.

What started as a friendship slowly evolved into a bond of close friendship where they would always look for reasons to spend time with each other. Rakul and Jackky would wait for each other to finish shooting. They hung out for five months continuously even making their gangs part of their lives. Jackky hilariously revealed how Rakul thought he wasn’t straight as he wasn’t making a move on her. “I was a sanskari ladka who immensely respected her,” he said.
Jackky reasoned with himself that he wanted to be totally sure about marrying her, and did not want to lose Rakul as a friend for a fling. While he was sure he wanted to marry her eventually, he didn’t communicate it to her. During COVID-19, the two shifted to a villa in Goa with their friends and family. After they returned, Rakul noticed Jackky was very quiet but romantic with her.
Meanwhile, De De Pyaar De actress was seeking clarity about the relationship and waiting for Jackky to confess his feelings to her. One day, he just held her hand and hilariously blurted out to her, “I’m so scared.” After that incident, the two started dating. After six months of dating, Jackky Bhagnani approached her parents to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage.
