Microsoft on Friday (August 29, 2025) said Windows 11, version 25H2 (Build 26200.5074), is available in the Release Preview Channel. The update will be made generally available later this year, the company said in a blog post.
The software giant hasn’t specified what features will be included in the update, but noted the version will be removing PowerShell 2.0 and Windows Management instrumentation command-line (WMIC). Version 25H2 will also share the same new features and enhancements that have been implemented with previous versions.
Both the 24H2 and 25H2 versions share a servicing branch so users can update with a single restart and then the latest version will be delivered after the enablement package activates them.
The update will also “give commercial customers the ability for IT admins to remove select pre-installed Microsoft Store apps via Group Policy/MDM CSP on Enterprise/EDU devices,” the blog said.
Windows Insiders can install the update under settings in the Release Preview Channel and receive new servicing updates through Windows Update.
