“Through the scheme, children who have lost one or both parents will receive a monthly maintenance allowance of ₹2,000 deposited directly in their bank accounts until they turn age 18,” he added.
The government has also made provisions to cover their educational expenses if they enrol in college or a polytechnic after completing school.

“Anna, who adopted the principles of social reformer Thanthai Periyar, started a political movement to serve the people. Today, on the 117th birth anniversary of Anna, Mr. Stalin has launched the “Anbu Karangal“ scheme to honour his legacy,” he added.
Through this scheme, Mr. Periyakaruppan, said, a total of 6,052 orphaned or single-parented children across the State would receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 deposited directly into their bank accounts until they turn 18.
This assistance would prevent them from dropping out of school and ensure their education continues.
