HAMSA Rehabilitation Centre, a provider of brain, spine, and orthopaedic rehabilitation, hosted a wheelchair rally in Tiruchi on Friday that witnessed the participation of spinal cord injury survivors, healthcare professionals, students, and family members.
According to a press release, the event aimed to break myths around disability, advocate road safety and encourage society to create barrier-free environments for persons with spinal cord injury.
The rally was flagged off by Kauvery Hospital group medical director Suresh Venkita, along with operations head Jayakumar, on the centre’s Cantonment premises.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Venkita said: “Spinal cord injury is not the end of life. With proper medical care, rehabilitation, and community support, survivors can lead meaningful, productive lives. Awareness is the first step to prevention and inclusion.”
Participants carried placards and banners highlighting messages on safety, rehabilitation, accessibility and empowerment.
