A life-size animatronic dinosaur roars and a group of children rush to click a selfie. In another corner, a gentle plant-eating brachiosaurus, known for its immense size and long neck that helps it reach treetop leaves, moves animatedly with sound effects much to the excitement of the children. While a display of pterodactyl or pterosaurs, the flying reptiles of the 1800s that come in varied wing sizes, sharp beak and teeth, leave the little ones wide-eyed, the tyrannosaurus rex, one of the most ferocious predators to have ever walked the Earth, grabs eyeballs with a massive body, sharp teeth, and menacing jaws.
The main atrium of Prozone Mall in Saravanampatti is buzzing with excitement as it ushers in festive celebrations with an indoor dinosaur park where visitors can step into the prehistoric era, a time when dinosaurs roamed. To ring in the celebrations, the entire mall is decorated with lights curated by a team that managed the lighting at MysuruDasara.

A closer look
“The dino world comes to Tamil Nadu after displays at malls in Europe and West Asia,” says S Bringston Nathan, who heads marketing of Prozone Mall, adding that the objective is to draw children and families alike for an entertaining yet educative experience. Children who are fascinated by the ancient giants can explore and learn more about their world at an interactive workshop where they can engage with replicas of iconic dinosaurs in a hands-on way with art and craft. There is an excavation zone, educational displays, and games bay that takes visitors on a prehistoric journey.

To make the experience more exciting, dinosaur eggs and skeletons have been placed, leading visitors in the direction of a dino cave set-up, adding a sense of discovery to the adventure. “Besides magical lighting and shopping festivals, it’s going to be a fun outing for children as they get to take home dinosaur-themed memorabilia,” he adds.
