Sugar production in 2025-2026 sugar season (October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026) is likely to be 349 lakh tonnes, which will be significantly more than the production in the current year.
The Indian Sugar and Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association said that with favourable monsoon and healthy crop growth, the crop in Maharashtra and Karnataka is expected to be strong.
The crop conditions are seeing a significant improvement in Uttar Pradesh and the crop is promising in Tamil Nadu.
However, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand are likely to see minor reductions in cane output due to flood-like conditions. The Association said that with these projections, the gross sugar production is estimated to be 349 lakh tonnes compared with nearly 295 lakh tonnes in the current season.
