Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci first crossed paths at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. At the time, both were in long-term relationships, so nothing developed, according to People.
Years later, in 2022, they reconnected in Lyon when Bellucci presented Burton with the ‘Lumiere Award’ on stage. Soon after that public moment, the pair were seen together in Madrid, walking arm-in-arm, sparking rumours of a romance.
At the 2023 Rome Film Festival, Tim Burton attended Monica Bellucci’s premiere of Maria Callas: ‘Lettere e Memorie’. Back then, The Independent online newspaper had described him as “so in love and happy.”
Monica Bellucci opened up about her relationship with Tim Burton in the summer of 2023. Speaking to Elle France in June, she said, “What I can say … I am glad I met the man, first of all.” She added, “It is one of those encounters that rarely happens in life … I know the man, I love him and now I am going to meet the director… another adventure begins.”
She was then a part of Burton’s Beetlejuice, the sequel to his 1988 cult classic.

Earlier, Burton was in a long-term relationship with Helena Bonham Carter from 2001 to 2014. They never married but share two children: Billy, born in 2003, and Nell, born in 2007. The pair have collaborated on several of Burton’s most iconic films, including Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland.
Even though the couple was never married, Carter had described their breakup as “a divorce.”
Speaking on the Therapy Works podcast in 2022, she said, “It was a long-lasting thing. That is the other thing, it is not that finite. It never ends. Even if you divorce somebody, it is a kind of marriage if you have children with them. The relationship has to change.”
Monica Bellucci married French actor Vincent Cassel in 1999. The couple had two daughters together: Deva, born in 2004, and Leonie, born in 2010. They divorced in 2013.
