Various news reports claimed that the music stalwart, widely regarded as the “emperor” of Punjabi music, had breathed his last. However, the cause of his demise is still unknown. Over a career spanning decades, Ahuja worked with some of the biggest names in Punjabi music, and contributed to the soundtracks of several hit regional and Bollywood films.
Musicians bid Charanjit Ahuja goodbye
As soon as news broke about the singer’s passing, tributes poured in from fans, industry friends and admirers. Saleem Shahzada penned an emotional tribute, saying, “Today, the music world has lost a great name — our revered guru, Maharaj Charanjit Ahuja Sahib, who has departed for the divine abode. What he did for Punjabi music, I don’t think anyone else has ever done. Many star artists are his creations, and he also gave immense support, love, and respect to people like us who came from humble backgrounds.“Nirmal Rishi also shared a photo of the star and wrote, “The eternal lamp of music, Charanjit Ahuja Sahib, is no longer with us. His melodies will forever resonate in our hearts.”
